Simplified Guide to Cleaning Your Pizza Oven
How you clean your oven depends on the specific surface material. Here is a breakdown of what to clean, how to clean it, and which areas you should avoid.
What to Clean & How
Surface | Recommended Cleaner | Instructions |
Glass Tiles | Soap and water (1 tbsp dish soap per bucket). For stained grout: Baking soda and vinegar paste (equal parts). | Wipe tiles with a microfiber towel and soapy water. For grout, scrub with the paste, then rinse with water. |
Archway (Brick) | "Greased Lighting" (Use carefully!) | This area can accumulate soot. DO NOT use this product on any surface that touches food. |
Granite Shelf | Food-safe cleaning agent (Simple soap and water works well). | Wipe down the granite shelf located at the oven entrance. |
Powder Coated Ring | Windex | Use Windex to clean the black iron ring and any other powder-coated surfaces. |
Stainless Steel | Stainless steel cleaner | Clean stainless steel parts with a dedicated cleaner. |
Copper | Natural cleaning solution (e.g., Mrs. Myers, Simple Green) | Lightly clean the copper elements. |
What Not to Clean
Surface | Reason to Avoid Cleaning | Cleaning Alternative |
Brick Shelf (Forno Casa) | Bricks can absorb chemicals, which may contaminate your food. | Do not clean the brick shelf in front of the oven. |
Oven Bricks (Interior) | The high cooking temperature will naturally burn off any stains or debris. | You can brush ash to the side and remove excess with an ash shovel. |
Stucco (Exterior Finish) | Cleaning stucco can often make stains worse and result in a bigger visual problem. | Avoid cleaning the exterior stucco finish. |
