Yes, absolutely. Many clients choose to build a countertop specifically for their pizza oven. However, to protect your investment, you must take specific precautions during the initial curing process.
Here is what you need to know to prevent damage and staining:
1. Managing Liquid Runoff & Staining
During the initial curing fires, it is completely normal for a silt-like liquid to leak through the bottom of the oven. While harmless to the oven, this mixture can stain countertops if left to dry.
The 4-Hour Rule: Liquid can be expelled for up to 4 hours after you stop adding fuel.
Action Required: You must monitor the oven during this window. Wipe up any liquid immediately before it dries to prevent permanent staining.
2. Protecting Stone Surfaces (Granite, Marble, Quartz)
We do not recommend placing the oven directly on natural or engineered stone (granite, marble, quartz, etc.) without a protective barrier.
The Risk: While the bottom of the oven is insulated, it can emit steam and moisture during curing that reaches temperatures of 200°F (93°C) or more.
The Solution: You must place a divider between the oven and the frame of your base to protect the countertop surface from thermal shock and moisture damage.
